We will transition to a new Windows certificate for the Trezor Suite application. Due to this change, application updates will be affected for users on Windows and other platforms (MacOS and Linux).
Users are not required to take any urgent action. The Trezor Suite will continue to work without any issues. However, the next Trezor Suite update will be slightly different to normal.
Our current certificate was originally issued to
'SatoshiLabs s.r.o.' (where s.r.o. denotes a Czech "company with limited liability"). However, since the legal name of the company was changed to
'Trezor Company s.r.o.' two years ago, we can no longer use the existing certificate. Therefore, we need to transition to a new certificate issued under our current legal name. This change will have implications for the Trezor Suite auto-update process on
all platforms.
In the forthcoming Trezor Suite update (version 24.5.4) an improved, faster auto-update system will be introduced. Users must
update to this version first in order to receive future updates smoothly. It is therefore possible that users will need to update their Trezor Suite installation
twice: first to version 24.5.4, and
then to the latest available release.
As always, we recommend all users remain vigilant and take the necessary precautions to protect their assets:
- Never share your wallet backup (recovery seed). Trezor will never ask you to provide this information.
- Do not interact with any suspicious links or messages from unverified sources.
- Trezor interactions occur exclusively through our official channels. When in doubt, contact our Support team.
FAQs
I see a different publisher on the certificate, is it legitimate?
The certificate will have a different Publisher name depending on the OS used: Windows will show Trezor Company s.r.o., whereas MacOS and Linux will show SatoshiLabs s.r.o.
I don’t use Windows, so why am I affected?
Since we will be modifying the whole release process, this change affects Trezor Suite for all supported operating systems (Windows, MacOS and Linux).
Trezor Suite prompts me to update twice, is this correct?
Yes, you will first need to update to the intermediary version of Suite, then update to the latest release available.
